Construction starts on I-90 Factoria Trail connection

The city of Bellevue has started construction on a connection between the end of the I-90 bike trail in Factoria and the nearby intersection of 124th Ave SE & SE 38th St on the back side of Factoria Mall.  While not a huge project, it will allow cyclists to get to the much calmer 124th Ave SE without having to ride on Factoria boulevard or it’s sidewalk, which has multiple driveway cuts and is a risky venture, at best.  Factoria Mall actually has a good selection of bike racks available and I often prefer to take my bike for errands to bypass the notoriously horrid traffic in the area.  This project will be a welcome addition to the area’s limited bike infrastructure and may even provide a viable connection for high school students heading to Newport High School just down the street.
